WHAT IS JRF
The full form of JRF is Junior Research Fellowship.It is the scheme of the University Grant Commission which is open to candidates who qualify in the National Eligibility Testing of the UGC and the UGC Council of Scientific and Industrial Research joint test.The purpose of the JRF scheme is to provide opportunity to NET qualified candidates to undertake advanced studies and research leading to M.Phill/Ph.D Degrees In Humanities and Social Sciences including language and science.The tenure of fellowship is initially for two years unser the JRF scheme.After expiry of this period the work of fellowship will be evaluated by the experts.If the research work is found satisfactory,tenure will be extended further for the period of three year under the enhanced emoluments of the Senior Research Fellow.
In case the work of first two year of JRF is not found satisfactory ,an additional year will be given to the candidate for improvement,during this period candidate will be designated as Junior Research Fellow.In such type of cases work of JRF will be evaluated again after the extended period of one year and if improvement is found the JRF will get further two year of extension under the designation of Senior Research Fellow.Thus the total period of fellowship is five year.
