( WHERE DO ALL THE TEACHERS GO 

WORKING WITH THE POEM

QUESTION 1. 

Answer these questions.

(i)Why does the poet want to know where the teachers go at four o’clock?
(ii)What are the things normal people do that the poet talks about?
(iii)What does he imagine about

(a) where teachers live?
(b) what they do at home?
(c) the people with whom they live?
(d) their activities when they were children in school?

(iv)Why does the poet wonder if teachers also do things that other people do?
(v)How does the poet plan to find out? What will he do once he finds out?

ANSWER

(i) The poet wanted to know where the teachers go at four 'o' clock, because
      it is the closing time of school.
(ii) The things that normal people do about which poet talked are living in                     houses, washing socks, wearing pyjamas, watching T.V, picking their noses,           living with their parents, not spelling right, being bad, making mistakes,                 getting punished, losing books, scribbling on desk tops, wearing old dirty               jeans.
(iii)  (a) In houses
         (b) Washed their socks, wore pyjama, picked their nose and watched T.V.
         (c) Lived with mothers and fathers and with other people also.
         (d) During the children days they were also bad, made mistakes, never                           spelled right, punished in the corner for pinching the chocolate flakes,                     lost their hymn books, scribbled on the desk top, wore old dirty jeans.
(iv) The poet wondered if teachers also do things other people do because he                had scan  them special. They are strict, did not make any mistake and                       punish those who did mistake. 
(v) The poet plans to follow one of the teachers on the way back home to find 
       out their activities at home. Once he find out their activities, he will write it          into poem, which teachers would read to their students.         

QUESTION 2. 

What do you think these phrases from the poem mean?

(i) punished in the corner
(ii) leave their greens

ANSWER

(i) Getting punishment of standing in the corner of the classroom.
(ii) Leaving the playground after the bell strikes for the next class to begins.
