WHAT IS HIV

              HIV Stand for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. It is a fatal virus that causes Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome which is an advance stage of HIV infection. It is a non curable disease. This virus affects the human immune system and makes the immune system very weak so one becomes more prone to infect with common illness like influenza,cough,tuberculosis etc.

EFFECT OF HIV VIRUS

            Human body has a immune system in the form of HIV which fights against infection .HIV destroy the specific white blood cells,if a large number of white blood cells are destroyed then the body can't fight against an infection. If infection increased ,it turns into AIDS. It is the condition of complete failure of the immune system. The last stage of AIDS is often complicated by infection of the lungs known as the pneumocystis pneumonia,severe weight loss and individual become very pron to be infectious.

HOW TO DETECT HIV

           It is not easy to detection the presence of HIV in human body because HIV is very small and can not be isolated from the blood. The most common test to diagnose HIV is ELISA (Enzyme - linked immunosorbent Assay)test.

COMMON CAUSES OF HIV INFECTION

 Some of the common reasons of HIV infection are as follows -

 1. Individual can get HIV from infected blood ,semen or vaginal fluids during unprotected sex with a HIV - positive partner.

 2. Sharing of drug needles with an HIV - positive person.

 3.       An HIV - positive mother can pass HIV or infection to her baby during pregnancy.

COMMON SYMPTOMS OF HIV INFECTION

         The symptoms of HIV infection generally appear after a long period of time. Some of the common symptoms are as follows.
  • Headache
  • Muscle pain
  • Joint pain
  • Sore throat
  • Skin Rash
  • Swollen glands
  • Fever

PREVENTION OF HIV INFECTION

  •  Don't share personal items like razors,toothbrushes etc.
  • Avoid sex with unknown partner and multiple sex partners.
  • Needles and Syringes should not be shared.
