FULL FORM OF CT SCAN

                              WHAT IS CT SCAN

The full form of CT scan is Computed Tomography Scan. It is a sophisticated X-ray device which provides detailed image of internal organs of the body. In CT scan i provide the minute anatomical details of internal organs that cannot be seen in conventional x-ray.

                         FUNCTION OF CT SCAN

In CT scan the X-ray tube spins rapidly around the  patient  and the X-ray strike numerous detectors after passing through the body. These detectors are connected to computers which generate images after image processing. The dose of radiation is higher than the conventional X-ray ,but the information provided by the CT scan is much clear than the conventional X-ray. It can also displayed as 3-D images.

It is invented by the British Engineer Godfrey N. Hounsfield and the South African physicist Alan Cormack in 1972. The CT scan is also known as the CAT (computerised axial tomography) scan.
