Qutub Minar was built in 1192 by Qutb-din-aibak. He was the first ruler of the Delhi Sultanate. Its height is 240 feet with a diameter of 14.3 meter at the base and 2.7 meter at the top. There is a provision of spiral staircase to reach on top. The spiral staircase consisting of 379 stairs. The five storey building has built with red sand stone and marble. Every floor has a balcony surrounded by the minaret and supported by corbels. The first three storeys are made of red stone,the fourth one is white as it made up with marble. The last storey is made of sand stone.
QUTUB FESTIVAL
The Qutub Festival is held in Qutub Minar in November -December.It is a three day festival to celebrate the magnificence of the monument and importance of its past glory to the entire world. This festival is organised jointly by the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation and the Sahitya Kala Parishad. The festival include cultural show,folk and classical music which attract the national and international people.
BEST TIME TO VISIT QUTUB MINAR
Since Delhi witness a high temperature in summers,it is advised to visit in winters season in the month of October to March.It is the perfect time to visit this place.
OPENING TIME OF QUTUB MINAR
Qutub Minar remains open for tourist all days except Sunday.The timing are as follows
10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
HOW TO REACH QUTUB MINAR
It is situated in Delhi,India. If you are in Delhi ,it is very easy to reach Qutub Minar. Individual can take autorickshawa and cabs.The nearest metro station is Qutub Minar Metro station which falls on yellow line.It is approx 3 Km away from the monument.
NEAREST RAILWAY STATION TO QUTUB MINAR
Nearest railway station is New Delhi. The visitors who are from outside of the Delhi they can finish their journey at New Delhi railway station,from there they can take metro yellow line to reach Qutub Minar.

Indira Gandhi International Airport is the nearest airport.The distance is approx 13 km from the airport.
