WHAT IS SIDBI

            SIDBI stand for Small Industries Development Bank of India. It was established on April 2 1990 under an act of Indian Parliament. The main aim of SIDBI is to act as a principle financial institution for the promotion, financing and development of the micro, small and medium enterprise sector. It also coordinates the functions of the institutions which are working in similar activities. 

          SIDBI provides financial assistance in the form of loans, grants, finance to micro finance institution for lending to micro enterprises and economically weaker sections of the society. SIDBI has initiated so many schemes for benefit of MSME and continued to be the principle lending institution for the MSME. It provides low cost credit to MSEs. In the present scenario SIDBI has playing important role in the Indian economy.

WHAT IS ELEMENT

WHAT IS ELEMENT

An element is a substance whose all atoms have the same number of protons. In other way it can be said that all of a particular elements atoms have the same atomic number. Elements are chemically the simplest substances and hence cannot be broken down by chemical reactions. It can be changed into other elements using nuclear methods. An elements atom have the same number of protons, they can have different numbers of neutrons and so have different masses. When atoms of the same element have different number of neutrons they are called isotopes.

WHAT IS MNC

             MNC stand for Multinational Corporation. MNC is a company that owns or control production in more than one nation. MNCs set up offices and factories for production in regions where cheap labour and other resources are available at cheaper price. This strategy is applied by the MNCs so that the cost of production will be low and they can earn greater profit.

ADVANTAGE OF THE MNCs

  1. An MNC can infuse huge amount for the investment and use modern technology in the host country to boost the production.
 2. Because of having good technology it produce goods at a large scale following the international standards.
3. It aims on the mass production of goods and services which minimise the cost of production.
4. It provides the employment in the host country. People work in different department of the company according to their qualification.
5. It generates revenue for the government as it pays income tax and other taxes such as GST and export duty etc.

DISADVANTAGE OF THE MNC

   Because of having good technology MNCs produce products at larger scale so the cost of product is lower. It is threat for the indigenous company to produce the product at the same price,hence their production cost will be higher. So it will be difficult to compete in open market to sell their product.

WHAT IS SEZ


    SEZ stand for Special Economic Zone .It is an area where the business and trade law flexible from the rest of the country. SEZs are located within a country's national borders. Its aims are to increased trade balance,increased investment,employment and effective administration. To encourage business setup in this zone flexible financial policies are introduced. The companies which are set up in special economic zone are enjoyed lower taxation for a certain period.

   The special economic zone is created by the host country to attract the foreign direct investment. The companies of special economic zone benefits so that it can produce and trade goods at lower price,aimed at being globally competitive.

FULL FORM OF MGNREGA

WHAT IS MGNREGA

        MNREGA stand for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. Earlier it was known as NREGA. This act was passed in September 2005. It is an law and social security measure that objective to guarantee right to work. Under MNREGA all those who are able to do work and are in need of,work in rural areas are guaranteed 100 days of employment in a year by the government. If government fails to provide 100 days work then it will give unemployment allowances to the people. Employment is to be provided within 5 km of an applicant's residence.

OBJECTIVES  OF MGNREGA

       The objective of MGNREGA is to increase livelihood security in rural areas by providing 100 days of wage work in a financial year to every household whose adult members are able to do unskilled work. Other aim of MGNREGA is to create durable assets like roads,canals,ponds ,wells etc.

    Apart from providing economic security and creating rural asset it help in protecting the environment,empowering rural women and reducing rural urban migration.

      

   
   
     

WHAT IS NITI AAYOG

WHAT IS NITI AAYOG

     NITI  AAYOG Stand for National Institution for Transforming India Aayog. Earlier the Planning Commission of India supervised the five year plan for the economic development of the country. In 2014 planning commission was dissolved and renamed as NITI Aayog with the same aim and objectives.

COMPOSITION OF NITI AAYOG

     The Prime Minister appoints a CEO and a Vice- Chairperson of the NITI Aayog. It has some full time and part time members along with four Union Ministers serving as Ex-officio members. It has a governing council that comprises of Chief Ministers of all states and Lt. Governers of the Union Territories. Apart from these there are specific regional councils of expert and specialist in various field invited by Prime Minister. 

FUNCTION OF NITI AAYOG

        It serve as think tank of the government,it provides advice on strategic policy matters to the central and State government. It also provide advice on economic issues on domestic and international importance. The Aayog supports a cooperative federal structure where Central and State governments prepare the development policy together.

   The regional council aims on the development activity in specific area. Unlike the planning commission of India NITI Aayog does not have any fund allocation powers. The Finance Ministry's Department of Expenditure allocate funds for the decision taken by the NITI Aayog.

AIMS OF THE NITI AAYOG

1. It provides a directional and strategic input to the development process of India.
2. It serve as a think tank for the Central and state government.
3. It expedite the implementation of the policy through better inter ministry and state to state coordination.
4. It ensure that all section of society should benefitted from the overall economic progress of the country.
5. It offers a platform for the dispute resolution of inter sectoral and inter departmental issues to expedite the implementation of the development policy.
6. It monitor and evaluate the implementation of programme and also emphasise o upgrading technology and building capacity.
7. It ensure the participation with full potential of the economically vibrant middle class.
     Apart of the above aims of NITI Aayog it has some other aims which boots the Indian economy.

        The full form of UNDP is United Nations Development Programme. It is established on 22 Nov 1965 and its headquarter is in New York City. UNDP is the United Nations global development network. It advocates for change and impart countries knowledge,experience and resources to help peoples for better life in term of education,health services and others essential basic needs. UNDP provides expert advice,training and provide support to developing countries. It also promote technical and investment cooperation among other developing countries.

FULL FORM OF HDI

WHAT IS HDI

         The full form of HDI is Human Development Index. It is a statistical tool that is used to measure the achievement of a country in the socio- economical condition of the people such as level of education, there health, the living standard etc. Human Development Index is enforced that people and their skill and capabilities should be the main criteria for measuring the development of a country. 

      HDI was developed by Indian Economist Amartyas Sen and Pakistani Economist Mahbub ul Haq. After that united nations adopted it to to measure the social and economic development of the countries.

HOW HDI IS CALCULATED

It is calculated with the help of four parameters which are as follows -

1. Life expectancy at birth.

2. Expected years of schooling.

3. Mean years of schooling.

4. Gross national income per capita.

         If Human Development Index comparatively higher it means that the people of this country have better life standard, higher education level and higher GNP per capita. 

FULL FORM OF PDS

WHAT IS PDS

              PDS stand for Public Distribution System. This system was established by Government of India under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs,Food and Public Distribution. The motive of this system is to distribute the essential commodities wheat,rice,sugar and essential fuels kerosene at a subsidies rate to the poor through ration shops established in several states throughout the country. Food Corporation of India which is Government owned corporation procures and maintain the public distribution system in India.

WHEN PDS SYSTEM STARTED 

          PDS system was first started in Feb 1944, during the second world war and was launched in current form in June 1947. This system is operated with the joint responsibility of the Central and State governments. PDS was extended in the 1960s because of shortage of the food that time. Government set up Agricultural Prices Commission and the Food Corporation of India to improve domestic procurement and storage of food grains for PDS.

       Net attendance ratio is the ratio of total number of children or persons in the official age group attending educational institution in a particular class group to the total number of the person in the age group.

HOW LITERACY RATE IS CALCULATED

   The total percentage of the population of an area at a particular time aged seven year or above who can read or write with understanding. It is also called the Effective literacy rate.

WHAT IS INFANT MORTALITY RATE


     IMR Stand for Infant Mortality Rate. It is the number of children that die before the age of one year per 1000 live children born in that particular year. The IMR is calculated number of children dying under one year of age,divided by the number of live births during the year ,multiplied by 1,000. It can be understood by the following illustration -

  In a country or particular region number of death of the children under the age of one year is 50. Calculate the infant mortality rate.

ANSWER - In above question no of death of children is 50, so IMR will be

            50
            ----  x 100 =  5 %           
           1000
 Hence the mortality rate will be 5%.

    There are so many causes of high IMR such as poor sanitation,poor water quality,malnourishment of he mother and infant,lack of prenatal and post medical care. Apart from these reason there may be others reasons also.

WHAT IS PER CAPITA INCOME

WHAT IS PER CAPITA INCOME

        Per capita income is also called Average Income. Per capita income is measure of the money earned per person in a country. It is calculated by total income of the country divides by total population of that country. Per capita income is used to determine the average per person income of a country to assess the standard  of living and quality of life of the people of that country. While counting per capita income in population it includes each man,women,child even new born babies as a member of the population.

CLASSIFICATION OF COUNTRIES ON BASIS OF PER CAPITA INCOME

    According to the world bank reports the countries is divided in three groups on the basis of per capita income.

1. RICH COUNTRIES  --

          The countries which per capita income is up to US$12336 per annum and above comes in rich countries.

2. LOW MIDDLE INCOME COUNTRIES -

     The countries which per capita income is US$ 1840 per annum comes in the category of low middle income countries.

3.  LOW INCOME COUNTRIES --

      The countries which per capita income is up to US$ 1005 or less are comes in low income countries.

 The above data is based on the Word Development Report of 2016.  The rich countries are generally called developed countries.

WHAT IS UREA

WHAT IS UREA

       Urea consist of carbon,nitrogen and oxygen. It can find in urine,sweat,blood and in milk of mammals. It is found in most concentrated form in urine. It is a crystalline compound and nitrogen component is approx 46% when dry. Urea is mainly used as a fertilizers because of having high content of nitrogen which is good for growth of plants.

    Urea forms in the body when when dietary proteins make amino acids after digestion. The liver breaks down excess amino acid to make ammonia,then it convert into urea. Urea is less toxic in the body  than ammonia. Kidneys remove urea as well as glucose,water and salt by filtering. Glucose,water and salt are reabsorbed into the blood whereas urea is not. It passes out from the body in the form of urine. Its chemical formula is ( NH2)2CO.

USES OF UREA

 1. Urea has a high nitrogen content ,that breaks down in soil and is used to nourish crops.
 2. Urea production is cheap and easy to transport,hence it is used in used in different industrial purposes. Urea formaldehyde resins are produced as an adhesive for wood and paper products. it is also used as a antifreezes and is used as a catalytic reducer to eliminate nitric oxide from diesel tank.

WHAT IS PFRDA

PFRDA stand for Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority. It is a statutory body for the pension regulator of India. It function under the department of financial services, Ministry of finance. It was established on 23 August 2003.Its headquarter is in Delhi.

         PFRDA is a government regulatory body which has executive, legislative and judicial powers. It promotes old age income security by establishing, developing and regulating pension funds and protects the interest of pensioners. Nowadays PFRDA is regulating National Pension System and Atal Pension Yojna. It is responsible for appointment of various helping agencies such as Central Record Keeping Agencies, Trustee Bank, Pension Funds, Custodian etc.

WHAT IS NHB

     NHB stand for National Housing Bank. It was established on 9 July 1988 under the national housing bank at 1987. It is an apex financial institution for housing. Its main objective is to operate as a principal agency to promote housing finance institutions. Its headquarter is in New Delhi, India.


FUNCTIONS OF NHB 

     The NHB has the following functions which are as follows -

1. NHB promote a wide network of dedicated housing finance institutions to adequately serve different reasons and different income groups of people.

2. It promotes a sound, healthy and cost effecting housing finance system which cater to all groups of population and to integrate the housing finance system with the overall financial system. 

3. It make housing credit more affordable 

4. It regulate the functions of housing finance companies.

5. It encourage augmentation of supply of land for construction of buildings and also there materials for housing and to upgrade the housing stock in the country.

      The RBI stand for Reserve Bank of India. It is the central bank of India. RBI was established on 1Apr 1935,under the reserve bank of India act. Its Headquarter is in Mumbai.

FUNCTION OF RBI

          The RBI uses monetary policy to create financial stability in India and it is entrusted with regulating the country's currency and credit systems. RBI is the central bank of India. The main function of RBI is to supervision of the financial sector in India which includes public sector banks,commercial banks,financial institutions and non banking financial institution.

            RBI formulates,implements,and monitor India's monetary policy. It also manage all foreign exchange under the Foreign Exchange Management Act of 1999. RBI acts as a regulator and supervisor of the overall financial system. It also act as a issuer of the national currency.
