WHAT IS ZIP FILE

       ZIP is an archive file format that support lossless data compression. A ZIP file may contain one or more files or directories that may have been compressed. ZIP files generally use the file extension .zip or .ZIP. The ZIP file format a number of compression algorithms,through DEFLATE is the most common.

ADVANTAGE OF ZIP FILES

    The most advantage of ZIP files is for software downloads. Zipping a software program decreases the time of downloading and keeps so many files nicely organised in the single ZIP file.

     Another advantage is while sending photos by e-mail. Instead of sending each mail individually or saving each image one by one from a website,the sender can put the files in a ZIP archive so that only one file needs to be transferred.

HOW TO OPEN A ZIP FILE

   1. Save the .zip file extension to the desktop. If compressed file was downloaded from a website ,it may be saved in the downloads folder in documents or users directory.

 2.  Launch WinZip from start menu or desktop shortcut. Open the compressed file by clicking File>Open. If system has the compressed file extension associated with WinZip program,then just double click on the file.

 3. Select all the files and folders inside the compressed file or folders that want to be opened .

 4. Click unzip and choose the destination folder to place the extracting file to be restored

 5. Open the extracted file from the stored destination.
