WHAT IS ED

            The full form of ED is Enforcement Directorate. It is entrusted with the proper implementation of enforcement of the Foreign Exchange Management Act,1999 (FEMA),and certain provision under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA)2002.

ESTABLISHMENT AND HEADQUARTER

         ED was established in 1956.Its headquarter is in New Delhi in India. The Enforcement Directorate is under the administrative control of Department of revenue under the Ministry of Finance.

FUNCTIONS OF ED

1.           It investigate the suspected violations of the provision of the FEMA,such as hawala transaction,foreign exchange violation and others violation under FEMA.

 2.         It undertake actions such as search,arrest,prosecution action against offenders of PMLA offence

 3.     To arrest and prosecute a person who is involved in money laundering.

 4.     It collect,develop and disseminate intelligence information related to violation of FEMA.
