WHAT IS FIR
The full form of FIR is First Information Report. It is a complain filed by the victim or a family member of victim or someone else on his/her behalf. It is a written documents prepared by the police when they receive an information about offence. When FIR is registered a signed copy is given to the person who has filed the complain.On the basis of First Information Report police start the investigation. It helps the police in investigation. Once a FIR registered,the content of the FIR cannot be changed except by order of High Court or Supreme Court of India.
CONTENT OF FIR
The following are the content of the FIR.
1. FIR Number
2. Victim's or the name of the person who has filed the complain.
3. Name and details of the offender if known.
4. Description of the offence
5. Place and time of offence.
6. Witness if any.
The FIR register is maintained at every police station.
