WHAT IS NITI AAYOG
NITI AAYOG Stand for National Institution for Transforming India Aayog. Earlier the Planning Commission of India supervised the five year plan for the economic development of the country. In 2014 planning commission was dissolved and renamed as NITI Aayog with the same aim and objectives.COMPOSITION OF NITI AAYOG
The Prime Minister appoints a CEO and a Vice- Chairperson of the NITI Aayog. It has some full time and part time members along with four Union Ministers serving as Ex-officio members. It has a governing council that comprises of Chief Ministers of all states and Lt. Governers of the Union Territories. Apart from these there are specific regional councils of expert and specialist in various field invited by Prime Minister.FUNCTION OF NITI AAYOG
It serve as think tank of the government,it provides advice on strategic policy matters to the central and State government. It also provide advice on economic issues on domestic and international importance. The Aayog supports a cooperative federal structure where Central and State governments prepare the development policy together.The regional council aims on the development activity in specific area. Unlike the planning commission of India NITI Aayog does not have any fund allocation powers. The Finance Ministry's Department of Expenditure allocate funds for the decision taken by the NITI Aayog.
AIMS OF THE NITI AAYOG
1. It provides a directional and strategic input to the development process of India.2. It serve as a think tank for the Central and state government.
3. It expedite the implementation of the policy through better inter ministry and state to state coordination.
4. It ensure that all section of society should benefitted from the overall economic progress of the country.
5. It offers a platform for the dispute resolution of inter sectoral and inter departmental issues to expedite the implementation of the development policy.
6. It monitor and evaluate the implementation of programme and also emphasise o upgrading technology and building capacity.
7. It ensure the participation with full potential of the economically vibrant middle class.
Apart of the above aims of NITI Aayog it has some other aims which boots the Indian economy.
