WHAT IS HYPERTENSION

         Hypertension is also known as blood pressure. It may lead to severe health problem and increase the risk of heart disease,stroke and sometimes death. Blood pressure is the force of blood exerts against walls of blood vessels. Hypertension is a primary risk of cardiovascular disease such as stroke,heart attack,heart failure etc. Keeping blood pressure is important for good health and reducing the risk of fatal disease.

CAUSES OF HYPERTENSION

     Hypertension is mainly of two type first is primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. The exact cause of high blood pressure is not known but certain factors affects in increasing blood pressure.

Lack of physical activity
Too much salt intake in diet
lack of physical activity
Smoking
Too much alcohol consume
Overweight
Stress
Thyroid disorder
Chronic kidney disease

  The normal Blood pressure is 120/80 mm of Hg.

MANAGEMENT AND TREATMENT

     Lifestyle management plays important role to control the blood pressure. Some lifestyle measures are as follows 

  1.     Physical exercise is very important,if a person is having high blood pressure he must do exercise in the form of jogging,brisk walking,aerobic exercise cycling and swimming etc. One should avoid heavy exercise.

 2.    Stress management is help to reduce the blood pressure. Meditation and yoga  may reduce the stress level.

3.   Consumption of alcohol should be avoided, other things like tobacco,junk food also should be avoided.

4.   Smoking can increase blood pressure. Hence smoking should be avoided to reduce the risk of hypertension.

5.  Diet plays important role to reduce the hypertension. Salt intake should be reduce upto the standard level. salt intake should be under 5gm per day as per WHO recommendations.
        Intake of saturated and total fat should be reduced. The following are beneficial for the persons who have high blood pressure such as intake of whole grain,high fiber food,variety of fruit and vegetables,beans,pulses and nuts and low fat dairy products.

6.  Excess body weight can increase the hypertension. Reducing weight is helpful in reducing blood pressure.
