FULL FORM OF LRR
LRR stand for Legal Reserve Ratio. It is the minimum fraction of deposits that the banks are mandate to keep as cash themselves. The legal reserve ratio is fixed by Reserve Bank of India. Legal Reserve Ratio has two components.
Cash Reserve Ratio --
Cash Reserve Ratio refers to cash reserve of banks with the Reserve Bank of India as a percentage of their deposit.
Statutory Liquidity Ratio --
Statutory Liquidity Ratio refers to reserves with the banks in the form of liquid asset including cash,gold and approved securities as a percentage of their total deposits.
CRR and SLR are fixed by the Reserve Bank of India and both are legal binding for the banks hence both CRR and SLR are Legal Reserve Ratio.
