 DNS stand for Domain Name System.

WHAT IS DNS

           The internet world is very large and messy,it is based on IP(Internet Protocol)address. IP address is a numerical code and not possible to remember. To overcome this problem DNS comes in existence. A DNS is a internet service that translate a domain name into corresponding IP address. Domain name used in alphabetic and can be easily remembered.

         For example www.fullexpand.com is a domain name of a site. With the help of DNS it will be translated into its IP address 198.345.786.4.

HOW DNS WORKS

         DNS works with the help of DNS server. When a user enters the domain name in web browser,the request goes to the DNS server,then DNS server determines the IP address using search in list. Then it sends the request information to the user. A DNS server holds a list of all IP addresses along with its domain name,which can be retrieved when required.
