WHAT IS BIS

       The full form of BIS is Bureau of Indian standard. This organisation established on 1st April 1987 by an act of parliament. It acts under ministry of consumer affairs, food and public distribution of India.  It's headquarter is at New Delhi.

      PURPOSE OF BIS 

1. To promote the standard and quality of the consumers product.

2. This organisation is engaged in preparation and implementation of the standards, of consumer products. 

3. Harmonious development of standardization related to market and quality certification.

4. To plan a national strategy for the recognition of standards and linking them with development of production and export.

5. This organisation ensures safe reliable quality products for the consumer.

6. It minimizes health hazards to consumers after ensuring quality products.
