WHAT IS NHB
NHB stand for National Housing Bank. It was established on 9 July 1988 under the national housing bank at 1987. It is an apex financial institution for housing. Its main objective is to operate as a principal agency to promote housing finance institutions. Its headquarter is in New Delhi, India.FUNCTIONS OF NHB
The NHB has the following functions which are as follows -
1. NHB promote a wide network of dedicated housing finance institutions to adequately serve different reasons and different income groups of people.
2. It promotes a sound, healthy and cost effecting housing finance system which cater to all groups of population and to integrate the housing finance system with the overall financial system.
3. It make housing credit more affordable
4. It regulate the functions of housing finance companies.
5. It encourage augmentation of supply of land for construction of buildings and also there materials for housing and to upgrade the housing stock in the country.
6. It registers housing finance company, supervise them and keeps surveillance through on and off site mechanism and coordinates with other regulators.
7. It provides housing needs to all segments of population with the focus on moderate and low income housing.
