FULL FORM OF LFT
WHAT IS LFT
The full form of LFT is Liver Function Test. This test is also known as hepatic function test or liver panel test. LFT is a group of blood tests that is carried out to detect and monitor liver disorders. The liver is one of the largest organs in the body which metabolizes, detoxifies and filters harmful substances in our body. It also stores minerals, vitamins and synthesizes proteins, enzymes and bile.LFT is carried out to check the levels of proteins and enzymes in the blood produced by liver cells. If the levels are higher or lower than the normal levels in the blood, it indicates that a person may be suffering from a liver disease.
Doctor may recommend this test in the following conditions -
1. Loss of appetite
2. Dark urine
3. Pale body
4. In a condition of repeatedly nausea or vomiting
5. Abdominal swelling or pain
6. In case of family history of liver disease
7. To detect the liver infection
8. To measure the degree of cirrhosis
