WHAT IS IMR
IMR stand for Infant Mortality Rate. Infant mortality is the death of young children below the age of 1 year. Number of death below the age of one year is measured by the Infant Mortality Rate. This rate is calculated by number of death of children below one year of age per 1000 live births. The premature birth is biggest part of the IMR. Some other causes of infant mortality are birth asphyxia,pneumonia,neonatal infection diarrhoea,malaria measles,congenital malformation etc.
HOW TO REDUCE INFANT MORTALITY RATE
Many factors contribute to enhance the infant mortality rate. IMR can be reduced to take certain steps like to enhance the mother's education level .environmental condition and political and medical infrastructure. Improving sanitation,intake of clean drinking water,immunization against infectious disease and other preventive health measures can help to reduce high rate of infant mortality.
