WHAT IS ERG


        ERG stand for Electroretinography. It is a test which measured the electrical potential generated by the retina of the eye when retina is stimulated by the light. In this test an electrode is placed on the cornea at the front of the eye which measures the electrical response of the rods and cones, the visual cells in the retina at the back of the eye. It is useful in the assessment of hereditary and  acquired disorders of the retina. The instrument which is used to carry out the test ERG is an electroretinograph ,and the resultant recording is called an electroretinogram.
