WHAT IS DPT


    DTP stand for Diphtheria,tetanus toxoids and pertussis vaccine .It is a vaccine which is combination of diphtheria,tetanus toxoids and pertusis vaccine. This vaccine is administered  intramuscular  for simultaneous immunization against diphtheria,tetanus and whoooping cough.

DOSES AND VACCINATION SCHEDULE OF DPT


    The dose of this vaccine is 0.5 ml /dose for child.
   Primary vaccination schedule is  3 doses 4 week apart,preferably before the age of 6 month .It is recommended to administer the first dose at six week of age,second dose at 10 weeks of age and the third dose at 14 week of age. If child has not been vaccinated at six week of age then vaccination should be start very soon. Booster dose should be given between 12 and 23 months.
