WHAT IS VLDL
VLDL stand for Very Low Density Lipoprotein .It is produced in the liver and released into the bloodstream to supply body tissues with a type of fat ie triglycerides. Lipoproteins are made up of cholesterol,triglyceride and proteins. They move cholesterol,triglyceride and other lipids around the body. VLDL is a type of bad cholesterol because it helps cholesterol to build up on the walls of arteries.WHY VLDL TEST IS REQUIRED
This test is carried out to assess the risk of heart disease. Increased level of VLDL are linked to atherosclerosis. This condition may lead to coronary heart disease.
Normal value of VLDL cholesterol is between to mg/dL.
